Simple Look for Senior Men
This succinct and user-friendly guide is intended for men who are on the plus side of fifty, or the “good side” of fifty. It features information and well-considered recommendations from some of the most progressive fashion blogs and websites, in addition to specific apparel items.
Aging In Style: A Few Fundamentals
Aiming to appear as though we still care—and we do, after all—means settling on a clear, concise aesthetic.
The best course of action for older men like us is to settle on one basic appearance and never change it. Take a jacket and jeans, for instance, if they fit you well. Don’t give up on that look just because you’re getting older.
Fashions change, but style endures. Men our age can depend on a clean white shirt, well-fitting blue jeans, and a stylish pair of brown cap-toe Oxfords rather than following trends. If the situation demands it, pair it with a navy blazer that is slim-cut. That is a simple appearance that never goes out of style. similar to us.
A subtle tie with a pattern is always fine for older men and will complete the appearance if you’re feeling particularly fancy.
Lastly, unless we’re actually running, we never wear white running shoes. Even then, think about donning some Nikes in dark gray or black.
Skincare for Senior Men: A Crucial Aspect of Fashion
There’s a lot to be said about the elder man who exudes masculinity, toughness, and wisdom. The best skincare products for men enable you to look your age without appearing elderly. What you should know about skincare if you’re an older man like me.
Genuine style is inherently subjective. It all comes down to intentionally being who you are.
Selecting Shoes for Senior Men
If you’re like me, you work somewhere with dress codes of some kind. It goes without saying that you’ll want to look as sharp as possible, but you’ll probably have to make some of your own judgments unless those requirements include a paper hat.
Most people would assume that women glance at a man’s shoes first. That puts a lot of emphasis on the shoes we choose, but the cap-toe Oxford is a dependable solution. This shoe is nice because it’s stylish, but it lacks the wing-tip stitching, which gives it a more formal and aged appearance in my opinion. Let them start with your shoes so that when they size you up, you’ll be ready because there are some great options out there that are both reasonably priced and quite attractive.
Oxfords with Cole Haan Cap Toes
The Cole Haan Cap Toe Oxfords are my favorite. They go well with everything and are elegant and sleek. They’re a great option for work shoes that don’t give the impression that you’ve given up on looking nice because they’re also really comfortable.
My Selection for a Slender, Pointy Blazer
Those of us who own a well-fitting navy blazer will grasp the significance of this essential piece of clothing for any wardrobe. Your blue blazer goes with everything and fits practically any occasion, even though it’s not the only suit coat you need or even an actual suit. I use mine with pretty much anything in my wardrobe, but as of late, my favorite combo is a white or light pastel shirt with extremely dark denim or grey dress pants. Calvin Klein is a brand of jacket that I really like. I have three of these, and I wear it constantly. It’s sturdy, didn’t break the bank, and comes with the CK label, which guarantees style.
Style, in my opinion, is essentially about bravely and freely expressing your uniqueness.
Match Your New Blazer With This Stylish White Dress Shirt
Any stylish older man’s collection must have a timeless white dress shirt. This Paul Fredrick pinpoint snap-tab collar shirt made of 100% cotton is appealing to me. There is no replacement for quality when it comes to looking your best, thus it is not cheap, at least not by my standards (around $160 on Amazon).
It’s not extremely slim-fitting, which is why I think this shirt is great for us older men. We have a little space to breathe. Take note of the fact that I’ve highlighted that it’s made entirely of cotton. Man-made fiber shirts gradually pill, fade to yellow, and tear. A non-cotton dress shirt will appear to have been thrown in the bargain section at best. which you most likely did.
These are some of the awesome dress shirt’s features:
The following are some dubious fashion decisions made by men:
Skinny jeans: You should stay away from them even if you’re thin. We’re getting older, and wearing these things makes older men appear ridiculous. It’s NOT us, Jared Leto. Jared Leto isn’t even himself!
Graphic/Logo T-shirts: Anything printed on your breast after fifty looks desperate, especially “funny” Threadless patterns.
Hoodies: They’re awful for us all, not just for Bill Belichick.
Long Hair: Any style longer than half an inch is not recommended if you are losing hair. Indeed, I did say that. Even though I keep my hair short, I am experiencing hair loss. There is no other humane choice.
Donning a Ponytail: Anything that ties in the back should be avoided if you still have hair (unless you make pornos or own a yacht, in which case, go ahead and do it).
Overalls: Refrain. even in the case of farmers.
Running shoes and blue jeans are two things that I personally detest. Put on runners and sweatpants if you plan to go running. Wear grown-up shoes and big boy pants for all other activities.
Essentials of Style for the Elderly Man: Superiority Over Quantity
It’s been suggested—and I agree—that quality and neatness are the key components of style for men over fifty. That means finding a few decent ties and shelling out a few more ducats for high-quality neckwear, but it doesn’t mean you have to spend your whole income on a rack of Italian silk ties.
Generally speaking, it’s best to invest on a small number of extremely well-made pieces and combine them in different ways. Finding ways to improve your appearance is always feasible if you give it some thought and, more importantly, care. We’re not wealthy, but we may not be as impoverished as we were when we were young guys. Regardless of our age, it’s totally reasonable to shell out a little extra cash on style to look beautiful.
Ralph Lauren: A Senior Model
Mr Lauren is a great example of how to age gracefully, according to at least one men’s fashion blogger. Of all, the fashion legend Ralph Lauren is the one who bought the Polo brand and its recognizable button-down collar shirt from Brooks Brothers in 1967. Lauren is one of the world’s most stylish and affluent men, even though he was born in 1939, which puts him comfortably beyond our statutory age limit of 50. In addition to managing a multibillion-dollar company, he also has an impressive collection of rare automobiles.
To succeed, you don’t have to dress in all Ralph Lauren couture, but it won’t hurt to adopt a few of his routines. Start with well-fitting long-sleeve button-down shirts (you can roll the sleeves up), nice lace-up or loafer shoes, and a modest yet well-made watch.
