When an older man tries to look younger, he can make a number of blunders. However, did you know that some of the activities you may be doing can make you appear even older?
I believe that we should accept the fact that we are becoming older. However, we do not wish to appear older than we actually are. For this reason, I’m going to share eight common blunders made by older men that actually make you look older.
- Failure to Adjust to the Times
Napoleon Dynamite’s Uncle Rico is seen in front of the orange van.
I’m going to describe a guy that we all know. When you look at him, you think, “Dude, he was probably really cool back in the 1980s.” His trans-Am is screaming Dokken or Whitesnake when he drives up. His hair is feathery and neatly parted. It’s possible that he’s wearing an oversized blazer with shoulder pads. And when you see him, you can practically smell the mustiness of the 1980s.
Let me also tell you a little bit about this man. It’s not as if he’s not a Brooklyn hipster or whatever; he’s not dressing this way to make a statement. Instead, he believes, “Dude, I was the man in high school, and I still got it. I got tons of chicks, I partied, and I drove a cool car.” Why make any changes?
And the first thing that makes older guys appear older is their mentality of not changing with the times.
The problem with this is that there is a very strong mental component to it, which I hinted at in my humorous description of this imaginary person. Early in life, most of us have probably had wonderful, fulfilling experiences. And wanting to cling to that is normal. I want to stay here forever because, well, this was a terrific time in my life.
Unfortunately, though, that isn’t how it operates. We must go on. We must change. We are unable to dwell on the past.
Yes, the clothes and hairstyles play a role, but the ability to psychologically move on is the true problem. It’s not a nice place to be if you spend too much time thinking about your prior achievements, victories, and positive aspects.
Change is difficult, and things change. Actually, let’s face it, change is terrible. However, we are aware that things change. You can only begin living your best life in the present if you can get your mind around it and learn to view change as a task to overcome and a means of bettering yourself.
- Disregarding graying hair

Many changes take place in our bodies and ourselves as we age. The majority of them are really bothersome; you feel tired more easily, things ache, and you don’t recover as quickly. However, we sort of tolerate these things and may even laugh about them with our pals. However, we are aware that these are things that are beyond our power to change.
However, some guys do attempt to undo one of the things that happens as we age in order to appear younger. However, we make ourselves appear even older when we make the second mistake, which is to try to hide the fact that we are starting to grow some grey hair.
Although there are undoubtedly some excellent beard and hair dye products available, I always seem to be able to tell who is using them. It simply doesn’t seem right. Everything else I’m seeing in front of me doesn’t match it. As a result, it appears that the man is attempting to hold onto his former greatness and is unable to accept that things change. We appear and look older as a result.
Grey hair and a little salt and pepper are very acceptable. You look older. You seem smarter. In fact, I believe that many women (and men) believe that males with salt and pepper or grey hair are even more sexy and desirable than those without any gray.
- Disregarding Body, Nose, and Ear Hair
One of the best ways for older men to appear younger is to trim their nose hair.
Let’s then discuss a common error made by older males that is quite simple to fix.
As you’ve grown older, you may have noticed that your ears have started to grow hair of their own, your nose hairs have gotten longer, and your eyebrows have gotten bushier. It’s organic. It occurs. However, allowing it to continue makes you appear elderly in addition to being quite repulsive.
This can be handled in a variety of simple ways. There are numerous small grooming tools available for nose hair. Another option is to use a small pair of scissors, but proceed with caution.
Ear hair is extremely simple to remove with an electric razor or tiny grooming tool. Speaking from experience, I would advise against trying to cut yourself with a safety razor if you want to use it on your ear.
Additionally, request that your eyebrows be trimmed the next time you visit the barber. You will appear younger when they apply the comb and trim it with a few clippers.
- Lack of a Proper Skincare Program
A man’s skincare routine includes using a shaving brush.
It’s likely that you’ve heard the adage that things improve with time or with age. And that’s true of many items, such as a cast iron pan, high-quality leather products, wine, cheese, whiskey, and a great pair of jeans.
With the exception of wine, cheese, and whiskey, most of these items require some upkeep in order to improve with age. In addition to ensuring that you are optimizing their longevity, taking appropriate care of these items helps them age beautifully.
The most crucial thing to realize is that this kind of maintenance must be routine and frequent. It’s not as if you spend a lot of money on a high-end leather briefcase, use it daily, break it severely, and never take care of it or shield it from the weather, and then ten years later you ask yourself, “What happened? And is there anything I can do to make this better?
since the response is no. There is no turning back once you reach a certain point with certain things.
For some items, such as the example briefcase, shoes, or jeans, for example, it’s okay if they wear out because we can simply replace them with a new briefcase, pair of shoes, or pair of jeans.
It is impossible to replace your face, however, when it comes to something truly significant. Additionally, because it’s the first thing people notice when they look at you, if you neglect it—for example, by not moisturizing, applying sunscreen, or performing other daily maintenance—the effects will worsen and you will appear older than you actually are.
Additionally, skincare doesn’t have to be a huge problem, but you must stick to the regimen. I’ve been using Tiege Hanley skincare products for about two years, and they’re among the best that I’ve found. They explain you exactly what to do, when to do it, and how much to use, and they send you everything you need every month. There is no easier way to put it than that.
- Refusing to Accept Balding
A poor combover is a grooming error that ages males.
Many of the topics we have discussed thus far have to do with clinging to the past at all costs. But regrettably, we appear older than we actually are when we do it. And when men begin to lose their hair, that’s the one situation where this is most noticeable.
This is not a problem that only elderly guys face. due to the fact that hair loss can occur at any age. However, it only makes you look older if you start losing your hair and try to conceal it with a small combover and grow it longer on top.
There is undoubtedly a mental component to this one as well, much like living in the past. You may believe that you are no longer as attractive as you were when you had a full head of hair and that ladies will no longer find you attractive. But what do you know? The only one who is concerned about this is you.
I’ve witnessed friends go through this, and I can assure you that when they finally give in and shave their entire head or simply get a tight haircut, they not only feel and look more confident, but they also appear younger than they did when they used the old combover.
I am aware that it is difficult. Even though it will be difficult, you must accept this shift. It will have a new appearance. However, it will become your style. Additionally, you won’t appear older than you actually are.
